The instruments sold in the USA were also assembled, engraved and lacquered there, with Selmer producing the individual parts in France and shipping them to America.<br \/>\nF\u00fcr viele Musiker ist das Mark VI das beste Saxofon von Selmer, wenn nicht das beste \u00fcberhaupt. So ist es auch kein Wunder, dass viele grosse Jazzmusiker wie John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins und Michael Brecker ein Mark VI bevorzugten.<br \/>\nSince the 1970s, a number of companies have been more or less openly copying the Mark VI, adopting both the scale and the keyhole net as well as the key design.<br \/>\nAuch Selmer selbst lehnt sich mit dem Reference 54 wieder an das Konzept des Mark VI an und n\u00e4hert sich so dem typischen schlanken, samtigen Klang der Originale.<br \/>\nDas Mark VI wurde von Selmer Paris im Jahre 1954 eingef\u00fchrt und bis 1974 produziert: Seriennummern 55&#8217;200 bis ca. 234&#8217;000<br \/>\nDabei von einem einheitlichen Modell zu sprechen scheint \u00fcbertrieben, hat doch Selmer laufend Ver\u00e4nderungen und Verbesserungen vorgenommen.
